About the workshop..

Have you ever felt curious about how good you could actually be at painting in watercolour?

Let Ruth lead the way with her simple tricks and techniques, structured step-by-step approach, and unique planning process.

She is really excited to share this secret of success with you; her planning strategy, the PEA process.

PLANNING

EXPERIMENTING

APPLYING.

Ruth says, "The PEA process is a way of making any mistakes in the planning process and not in the main painting process. I do this every time I start a painting. It saves time, effort, and heartache."

'Rolling in' is a workshop that focuses on the completion of one painting in watercolour.

This workshop is aimed at the artist who understands the basics of this fantastic medium but who would like to investigate a new way of working or brush up on their existing skills.

Take a look at what's included in the workshop:

  • A video reminding artists how to 'stretch paper.'
  • A downloadable Materials list.
  • A step-by-step demonstration to guide you through her planning process.
  • Step-by-step demonstrations to complete the finished artwork, 'Rolling in.'
  • An album of Royalty-free photographs for your reference.

A message from Ruth:

"It's always been a dream of mine to create an online painting course."

My name is Ruth Clayton, and I've been an artist for over 30 years, having gained an art degree at Leeds and a teaching certificate at Manchester university.

I have extensive experience teaching a wide age range of students and have taught in schools, colleges, prisons, and on a one-to-one basis. In my face-to-face workshops, the adult students often enrol year after year; I'm honored to call so many of them my friends.

I have also worked in the commercial sector, designing greeting cards and other merchandise.

I have had many exciting opportunities exhibiting my paintings and completing commissions and have enjoyed every part of my art career so far.

I'm passionate about watercolour and would love to share, with like-minded people, the hints and tips that I've learned over the years.

I’ve been to a lot of Ruth’s workshops over the years and enjoyed every single one. I look forward to more in the future. Ruth is a great teacher who explains everything step by step, is patient and encouraging. In addition, Ruth has helped me understand and enjoy painting in watercolour.
